Our Service

Cittamani Hospice Service was established in 1995. Each year, we provide support to around 250 clients and their families. In addition we provide counselling and bereavement support to community members dealing with grief and loss.  Through care and education, we aim to help people live a rich and meaningful life and to be better prepared for the choices they need to make at the end of life.

Cittamani offers its clients palliative care under a Hospice-at-Home, community-based model.  Our philosophy of care centres on a holistic approach which is based on the individual needs of clients. Care is provided in the person’s home environment and enlists their network of family and friends.  Our primary aim is to support our clients to live their remaining lives in full and meaningful ways. Cittamani's services address not only the physical aspects of care, including symptom control, but also the emotional and spiritual aspects. Our support services focus on enhancing comfort and improving quality of life.

Cittamani is based on Buddhist values of compassion service and the relief of suffering. Our staff and volunteers come from diverse faiths and spiritual traditions but we are united in our values: to serve others with kindness and compassion and in accordance with their values and priorities.

Most people facing a terminal illness would choose to spend as much time as possible in their own home surrounded by those they love. Cittamani acknowledges that it takes courage and commitment from family members and friends to provide continuous care at home. Our staff and volunteers are experienced in hospice care and understand the challenges that clients and carers face. We provide information to help our clients and their supporters understand their options and to help them make the choices that are right for them.

Family and friends, especially those in the role of primary carer, are also supported.
