Our goal is to provide the highest quality care in order to maximise comfort and peace of mind for people facing a terminal illness and their families and carers. We are committed to providing information and support to enable people to maintain control of their choices in care and to enjoy the highest quality of remaining life as they define it.
Our Belief
Since death, illness and loss are a natural and inevitable part of life, we believe that care of the dying and their loved ones is best provided within the context of a person's own community. However, in our society there has in recent times been a lack of open discussion about our familiarity with death and dying and people often feel at a loss to know how to manage. We have lost much of the traditional experience, skills and confidence needed to support one another at this time.
Cittamani's belief is that an effective hospice palliative care service is best provided within the context of a healthy and supportive community where death, dying and bereavement are openly discussed and acknowledged. We are committed to developing the capacity of our community to be able to support one another through the experiences of illness, death and bereavement. The service is developed from a Buddhist value base which affirms the preciousness of life, mutual respect, compassionate service, empowerment and universal responsibility. Our staff and volunteers come from diverse faiths and spiritual traditions but we are all personally committed to these important universal values.
A Holistic Approach
To the Cittamani team, hospice is a holistic approach to care rather than a place. We are totally committed to providing holistic, individualised care, nurturing the physical, emotional and spiritual needs of our clients and their families, and to working collaboratively within our team and with others in our community to provide the best possible care.
